I hope each and every one of you had a wonderful 4th of July yesterday!
And, for those of you who live outside of the United States, I hope y’all had a wonderful July 4th too!
We had a very fun and full day. Kev and I started off with our local 10k and we loved it! I’m so glad we decided to run.
Before the race I had a Pumpkin Protein Pancake topped with peanut butter and half of a banana. It was the perfect pre-race fuel.
I told you guys all about how nervous I was for this race. So, I decided I needed a new outfit to boost the morale. 😉 I’m a bargain shopper, so I just got some shorts at Marshalls for $15ish bucks and a tank at Target for $12ish bucks. Score. I also decided to bring along my Fuel Belt so I would have plenty of water.
I’m a little bit of a water freak when I run. I don’t guzzle it, but I like to drink it often to stay hydrated. My water is kind of like my woobie. It makes me feel safe and cozy, lol.
I also brought along some Sport Beans just in case…
Ya, you’d think I was running a marathon or something. I was a little paranoid. But, it ended up being an awesome race! The weather was perfect and the race route was gorgeous. There were quite a few hills though.
I wasn’t super fast, in fact it was my slowest “official 10k” yet, but I felt really good. I ran it in 56:59 and Kev ran it in 56:34. Kev said he felt better than he had at any race. It was such a fun way to start the holiday.
After the race, we went home, grabbed our kids and then went back for an awesome Chuckwagon Breakfast.
Pancakes, eggs, hash browns and ham for only $2/kids and $3/adults. Awesome.
Afterward, Kev and I took a nice little nap and it felt wonderful!!
Later on, I decided to make some fun 4th of July food for our little family. I decided to use some yummy kabobs I bought at Costco.
I was so happy to find these AND they were on sale too! Woo hoo. I didn’t even know you could buy pre-skewered kabobs! These were very, very yummy.
I decided to make some veggie kabobs too. I just used onions, peppers and pineapple…
Kev grilled everything up….
While he was busy grilling, I decided to make a few of the festive 4th of July things I shared with you guys in my last post. We made the “Flag Fruit Platter” and I thought it turned out super cute! I decided to use all fruit, instead of the cheese pictured in the last post.
The kids all loved it. I also made the festive “red, white and blue” green salad and I loved it so much!
Here’s a picture of our “spread.” I also made some quinoa, but it’s not in the picture.
And here’s my plate…
Super yummy! This tasted SO GOOD to me! Kev and I both agreed that we could eat this every day. I love how many fruits and veggies are crammed in there too.
After our little “feast”, we decided to take the kiddos to see a movie. We went to see Monsters University and it was super cute!
I snapped some pictures before the movie started. Yes, I’m sure everyone around me thinks I’m really annoying because I take pictures every place I go, lol.
I also must mention that my oldest son does not have issues; he tries to make faces in ALL of my pictures. He’s a card. Oh, and my 3 year old was completely sacked out on Kev. We woke him up just before the movie started.
After the movie, we found a nice a piece of grass, spread some blankets out and watched our local fireworks. They were wonderful. I love fireworks!
We had a wonderful 4th!
Oh, and I just wanted to share a couple more fun pics. Our city also puts on a “Country Fair” around the 4th of July. We took the kids to it on Tuesday and had a ball. Kev took the bigger kids around on some rides and I stayed with the two little squishy ones. Here’s some fun pics we took…
My two little ones are in the back seat with two random kids in the front.
They loved this little roller coaster and wanted to ride on the very front!
I rode on the Ferris Wheel with them and we loved it!
Well that’s all folks! Now I gotta go enjoy the rest of my Friday night! I hope you guys have a great weekend!
Questions for y’all…
- What’s your favorite thing to BBQ?
- What fun things did you do for the 4th?

Will you send me a link, or post on FB, which fuel belt you use? Do you like it? Many thanks, Jeanne

Hey Jeanne, I love my Fuel Belt! Mine is actually made by the brand, Fuel Belt. I’ve had mine for a long time, but here’s a link to some of the belts that are very similar to mine, http://www.fuelbelt.com/GearFinder Mine looks like the “Revenge 2 bottle” one. Mine’s pretty boring; there are so many other cute colors! You can’t go wrong! I would like to have a 4 bottle one for a half or full marathon.
