We Had a Wonderful Thanksgiving!

November 30, 201314 Comments

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

We had such a fun day and I loved spending it with Kev’s family in Oregon.  We’ve been staying with Kev’s parents the past few days, but will be heading home tomorrow.

I only have a few minutes to write because I want to enjoy the time we have with family, but I thought I would hop on here for a minute and talk about our Thanksgiving. 😉

We spent the day at Kev’s brothers house and had an incredible Thanksgiving dinner.

Here’s a pic of Kev and his brother preparing the turkey.

And here’s a few pics I took of the spread….

Yummy Thanksgiving Food

That’s my mother-in-law’s famous stuffing in the top pic.  It’s amazing…she makes it with her homemade white bread and it’s absolutely unbelievable.

I told you guys my assignment was to make a green salad and a Pistachio Jello salad, right?  Well, here they are..

Pistachio Salad and Green Salad

The green Autumn salad turned out great and the Pistachio Jello salad is an old family favorite.  It takes about 2 minutes to prepare and everyone loves it.  It’s not healthy at all though. 🙁

My very favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner is the sweet potatoes, but I didn’t even get a picture of them!  But, here’s a picture of my plate…

My Thanksgiving dinner plate

Ya, I pretty much had a little lottle bit of everything!  It was so good!

Me with my Thanksgiving dinner

I hate it when I get full on Thanksgiving…it’s the saddest part of the day.

Kev and I on Thanksgiving

Oh, and Kev’s family has dessert several hours after dinner, which is not a good thing for me!!  My family has dessert immediately after dinner and I’m usually so full that I skip it.

Well, I didn’t skip it this time!  Everyone in Kev’s family knows how to make amazing pies!!  I tried a small slice of pumpkin, banana cream and cherry.  It was crazy good.

I forgot to take a picture though. 🙁

Oh, and last night Kev’s family had “Pie Night!”

Seriously!!!???

It’s pretty much just another opportunity to pig out on dessert.  It’s great…..I think.

I didn’t take any pictures of Pie Night either.  So lame…I guess I was just enjoying the pie too much!

Well, needless to say I’ve been a ginormous pig the past few days.  I also haven’t exercised at all and we’ve been staying up WAY too late!  It’s been fun, but I’m looking forward to getting back to my normal groove soon.

It’s amazing how different I feel when I eat rich, decadent, heavy, calorie laden food.  I feel so sluggish, bloated, unmotivated and just….heavy.

It’s weird.  It tastes so good goin’ down, but it’s interesting to feel the effects on my body.

When I eat real, clean, healthy food, I feel GREAT, light, energized, motivated and just…..good.

Well, I better end this so I can spend as much time as I can with the fam.  I hope you all had a fantastic holiday and enjoyed some time with your family and loved ones.

I’m so THANKFUL every….single….day for my family, husband, health and faith.

I’m also SOOO grateful for each and every one of you guys.  You all brighten my days and enrich my life so much! <3 <3 <3

You’re so beautiful and totally glow in those pictures! That jello salad looks really good and I don’t care if it’s not healthy 🙂 Any type of marshmallowy/jello/fruit salad has my name written all over it!

Glad y’all had a great time with your husband’s family!!!
We do dessert after dinner – I passed because I was full (plus I would rather eat more garlic smashed potatoes!).

You’re allowed to overeat on Thanksgiving!!! But yes, totally agree. You’d think knowing I’m going to feel crummy after crap food would stop me…nevertheless, I always eat the crap food!! Haha 😉 Feels great to be back to normal!

LOL, I know I always seem to go back to the crappy food even though it makes me feel terrible! Dang. It DOES feel so nice to get back into a healthy groove again though.
