Guys! We had such a fun day today running The Color Run! It was a great race AND the perfect race to run with the kiddos and fun friends. We all loved it!
I grabbed some pre-race fuel as we headed out the door this morning…
Three Coconut Chia Seed Protein Balls and half of a banana. Perfect.
Here we are in the van….so excited to get to the race!
Oh, and here’s Kev….the driver. 😉
When we got to the race, there was a big, giant party goin’ on! It was such a fun environment. There was music blasting and hoards of people dancing in the streets. I loved it. The Color Run has been dubbed “The Happiest 5k on the Planet” and now I know why. It was awesome.
We headed to the starting line with our team and snapped a few pics…
Our team consisted of a bunch of friends from our church and neighborhood. Kev was our only man, lol! There were definitely a bunch of other men who ran the race, but for some reason our team was mostly women and kids. We had such a fun time!
The race was very well organized. I was so impressed.
Every half mile or so, we reached a different “color station.” We could always tell when we were approaching the next station because we could see a giant inflatable arch and banners telling us which color was coming up. When we got to each “station”, we were sprayed with a bunch of the color, which was made up of a corn starchy type stuff.
I gotta say, we had so much fun running that it didn’t even seem like 3.1 miles! I couldn’t believe it when we approached the finish line. It seriously felt like 2 miles.
I guess time flies when you’re having fun!
I was so proud of my cute son; he ran the entire thing with Kev and I. My daughter walked/ran it with her friend and they loved it. I kept trying to get them to stay with us and run, but my daughter said, “Ya know mom, you don’t have to stay with us the entire time!”
I got the hint, lol.
After we finished, we watched for and cheered on the rest of our team as they finished.
I love these pics of my son. I thought his color turned out the coolest…
Here’s our team reunited at the end of the race…
And here’s a fun “before and after” of our little family…
This pic makes me laugh because just as we were taking this picture, some guy walked by and threw a whole bunch of blue color all over us. I was obviously oblivious to it, but I love my daughter’s reaction!
After the race, we used towels to brush off as much color as we could and then sat on the towels for the ride home. Our van stayed relatively clean.
We had such a fun day. I will definitely run this race again. We all loved it!!
Oh, and we got free Kind granola bars and smoothies made by Blendtec. YUM!
Later on, after we had all showered, we went to Subway with a couple of the kids…
It tasted so good to me! On the way home, we stopped by the store for sec. I saw that Hostess was back in the stores again and I was so happy! I grabbed some Twinkies and Cupcakes to celebrate.
I really like never, ever, ever buy Hostess stuff (even though I think they taste great!), but I’m just so happy that this iconic company is back in business. We decided to support them…and the kids were happy I was so supportive!
I, of course, didn’t have any. 😉
Oh, and just a couple hours ago I ran over to the gym to get a quick upper body workout in. It was great. I still had a little bit of color leftover from the race around my ankles, elbows and armpits. I also had the fun “Color Run” and “Happy” tatoos still on my arms. Awesome. I felt like a dork, but I just got my workout in and headed on home. Check.
Well, that’s our day in a nutshell. It was great, but I am exhausted! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
