Life has been so hectic guys! Man. This week is not going to be any different either.
I told you guys that my little sis is visiting from Connecticut. We always have so much fun when she comes! My brother and his family who live in Georgia are also coming to visit in a few days and my other brother and his family who live in California are coming as well.
Party ON!
I also helped with a Girls Camp for our church last week. It’s a great camp that’s held every year for the 12-18 year old girls. It’s a lot of fun. I especially enjoyed going this year because my daughter was finally old enough to go. She loved it!
The camp was 4 days long, but I only went up for a couple days. The girls went hiking, water rafting, made a bunch of crafts, played games and we were all strengthened spiritually. It was great. We also ate a lot of great food (that I didn’t have to cook!) Woo hoo.
There were a bunch of “healthier snacks” up at camp. When camp was over, there were a bunch left over, so they let us take some home. Score.
All of these snacks are from Costco. I’ve wanted to try some of these, but didn’t want to buy a big ol’ box in case they were gross.
I’ve bought the Trail Mix before and it’s great. It’s just nuts, raisins and M&Ms. Pretty simple. The Annie’s Bunny Grahams and Cheddar Bunnies are pretty good too. They taste like Teddy Grahams and Goldfish crackers, but have all “real” ingredients.
I decided to have a little “taste test” with the kids with all of the different bars. I cut them all into small pieces, had the kids try each one and then tell me what they thought.
I’ve had Cliff Bars before and I have to say, I just don’t love them. The Kid Z-Bar is also made by Cliff Bars. They aren’t gross, but they’re not yummy either. They’re a lot healthier than a typical granola bar though. My kids all seemed to like them okay.
The NuGo bars actually taste pretty good! These bars were the favorite with the kids. They tasted kind of like a Rice Krispy treat with drizzles of chocolate or vanilla. They are also a lot healthier than a typical granola bar, but I didn’t like how long the ingredient list was. 🙁
The Uber Bars (made by Larabar) were probably my favorite. They tasted great and the ingredient list was very simple….pretty much just nuts, dried fruits and sweeteners like honey and brown rice syrup. That’s it. All of my kids liked these except my 5 year old. He took a bite, made a gagging sound and then spit it in the trash. He then said, “No kids are going to like those!” I laughed so hard. He’s a bit of a picky eater and not a fan of nuts, so I wasn’t surprised.
