Happy, happy Friday! Oh my word, I’m so happy it’s Friday.
I’ve had a very long week. Auugghh. In fact, I’m feeling a wee bit stressed out and overwhelmed at the moment.
Auuuughhh (oh wait, I already said that.)
I’m sorry to be a big downer (especially on Friday), but I just need to vent for a moment. Here are a few things that are stressing me out:
- My house is a wreck and a messy house=a stressed out, ornery mom.
- Kev’s been out of town for a few days and I don’t like it when he’s gone. He is my helper, psychologist, voice of reason and my “calm-er down-er.” When he’s gone, I go a little bit nutzo. I’m glad he’s home now though. Yay.
- My (now) 10 year old is having a birthday party at our house tonight. I need to clean, decorate and figure out some games to do. Hmmm.
- I love my children dearly, but one of my dear children is seriously stressing me out right now. Parenthood is not for the faint of heart. All you parents out there know what I’m talkin’ ’bout. Man.
- I’m coming down with a cold, dang it. But, I’m not going down without a fight! I’ve been loading up on Vitamin C and have still been keeping up with my workouts even though I don’t feel 100%.
Is that everything?? Probably not, but it will suffice.
Life is tough guys. There are a bunch of demands placed on each of us every day. I’m also a little bit high strung and try to accomplish WAY too many things. I really only have one speed and I don’t know how to slow down.
I tend to have nervous breakdowns from time to time…..and then I chill out and carry on. 🙂
This little motto is my mantra….
Moving on….
I went on a nice little run this morning. The weather was perfect (~55 degrees) and sunny. Loved it. I ran 3.2 miles and tried to follow the Body for Life formula. I started out slow, picked it up a bit, then ran my typical “fast” pace and then fully sprinted until I wanted to die. I then repeated that a few times.
It was a tough workout, but I’m glad I got it done first thing. Now I can enjoy the rest of my Friday (I hope!)
Oh, and I’ve decided the song, “Titanium” by David Guetta (love him!) is one of my all-time favorite songs to run/exercise to. It has a great beat and motivational lyrics. I love it SOOO much.
However, it tends to stay in my head all day long and I end up singing it incessantly, lol.
On the other hand, I’ve decided the song, “I Love It (I Don’t Care)” by Icona Pop is about the most annoying song ever made! I don’t know how it ended up on my iPod, seriously.
It started playing near the end of my run this morning, but sadly my battery was almost dead and it wouldn’t let me change the song! So, I suffered through it, but really wanted to poke my eyes out. When I got home, I plugged my iPod in and promptly deleted that song. Barf.
On a brighter note, when I got home I made myself my current favorite protein shake….Cookies and Cream!
In fact I’ve had it three days in a row now!
It’s a wonderful shake! Here’s how I make it…
Cookies and Cream Protein Shake
- 1 1/2 cup Unsweetened Almond Milk (or liquid of choice)
- 1/2-1 scoop Cookies and Cream Protein Powder (I’ve been using 1/2 scoop because my protein powder is extra high in calories and protein)
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- a splash of vanilla
- 2 big handfuls baby spinach (you cannot taste it at all….I promise!)
- 2 tablespoons Fiber One Cereal
- 8-12 ice cubes (depending on how think/thin you want it)
Directions:
Mix almond milk, protein powder, cocoa, vanilla and spinach in blender.
Add Ice. Mix well.
Add Fiber One cereal and mix just until blended (you still want chunks of the cereal in there.)
This shake is so good! It really tastes like a Cookies and Cream shake. The Fiber One cereal tastes like little bits of cookie in there. It sounds weird, I know….but it works!
I wish it looked prettier though. It really doesn’t look “Cookies and Cream-y”, dang it. Oh well, just close your eyes when you drink it. 😉

I went out to dinner and shopping the other night with my mom and sister. We went out to celebrate my mom’s birthday and we had a lot of fun. We went to Sweet Tomatoes, which is one of my mom’s favorite restaurants.
It’s a buffet-type restaurant, but it’s a lot fresher and a little bit healthier than your typical buffet place. It’s still really easy to over eat though.
I started out with a big ol’ yummy salad.
This salad was great. I also had a small piece of their Vegetarian Focaccia bread and two slices of the best Sourdough bread in the world!! I’m so sorry I forgot to take a pic….I think I was enjoying it a little too much.
Seriously, that bread is just as good as any treat to me. I could seriously eat the whole loaf. Love it.

Last night, Kev was gone so I just made some Grilled Cheese Sandwiches for the kids. I made myself an open-faced grilled cheese sandwich on a slice of Dave’s Killer Powerseed Bread and it was great. I also used a little olive oil instead of butter.
I decided to scramble up 1 egg and 3 egg whites so I could get my protein in too.
It was yummy and very filling!
Well, I gotta go pick up my Elementary kids from school and get all of my million things done, so I better run!
I hope each of you have a wonderful Friday night and weekend. If you’re stressing out like me, just remember to Keep Calm and Carry On (chocolate doesn’t hurt either!)
Love y’all!
